Hola Nicas! :D
Hey there.! I'm Karla Usagi. :)

I'm 26, and live in California United States.

My mother is from Nicaragua, and My father is from Puerto Rico. :D

I went to Nicaragua last year for my abuelita's funeral. She died in our house in Cali, so we had to ship her back to Nicaragua.

I'll be honest, I was afraid to be in Nicaragua, i was afraid of getting attacked by giant bugs, or eaten by snakes, or crapping in holes.

I was afraid to let go of luxaries we Americans take for granted.

My god, I did have to live without somethings.

But it was worth it. I met all my familia out there, and I have never been so happy. :)

I'm gonna share some pictures with you sweeties. :D

My cousins. I'm the one in the bakc making stupid face.

The girls to the righ tof me live in Nicaragua, the other two live in the US.

And here's my cousin Samuel

He said apperently its ok to kiss your cousins there......ew.

There was a kid explosion in the room I was staying in.

I was like "WHAO THE WALLS AND CEILING DOn'T touche?" wow!!!
I like how everyon eis very open and kind there. and the beaches were lovely.
We were in an area called San Rafael Del Sur.

Oh, anyone know what the Zorracoka is??

The legendary bird of dead??

OH and VIBURON is awesome!!!

wooT!!!

oh yeah.

I miss Nicaragua. I might go again in 2008 to see my family. :) I miss them so much.

And for more pictures, its mostly just my family, but hey, We Nicas, we shoudl get a long right? :D

I hope this community grows and is active! I love meeting other Nicaraguans. :) esp in California!

Nicaragua

Thanks sweetieS!!!

This is a small church in a resort called Selva Negra/Matagalpa

This is Selva Negra as well

We went to a sight seeing place near Granada called El Mirador de Catarina

On our way back to our city we we went through the road to Jinotega. Its as green as it could get since its raining season and there are a lot of cafetales around. By the way the coffee there is awesome!

This is a well were people get water out of it, in this case its to hydrate the animals in the farm.

This is a river near el Cua. The water was freezing but no one seemed to care! Its north of Nicaragua.

We went to a restaurant in Esteli whose owner made statues of a stone that people get from volcanoes. He has them for sale in the Restaurant but he can custom make anything you want as well!

Nicaragua 2007
I'm posting some pictures of my trip 8/2007 to Nicaragua. I want to share its beauty and splendor especially with people who have never been there or ever considered going. I must say that I had a wonderful time.

This is Tisey, a natural conservatory near the city of Esteli. You have to go up a mountain by car and then walk to the top. You can see mountain ranges and volcanoes from up there.

This is "el mirador the catarinas". Catarinas is a town near the city of Masaya, from which you can see la Laguna de Apoyo.

The following pictures were taken from the city of San Jorge, which is next to El Lago Nicaragua. From here you can see two valcanoes Maderas and Casita. You can also get there via a ferry. The Island also has hotels and resorts.

The following pictures are from San Juan Del Sur. I found that there are many tourists from all over the world, especially Europe. There are a lot of surfers and back packers. Hotels and hostels are as cheap at $6 per person per night. Not a bad deal if you are planning to backpack. Of course you also find the more expensive hotels. The sunset is gorgeous.

We went to the Volcano Masaya which is also know as "el volcan de la cruz/cruz de bodadilla" because back in the days, a priest thought that the opening of the volcano was the entrance to hell and he put a cross to bless it.

We climbed all the way up to another crater that now just has trees and vegetation. From up there we were able to see "la laguna masaya". The air was so cool and fresh, and the sight was amazing. It was worth the climb and the pain in my feet. From there you can see another volcano that is across from the lagoon, which is taller and bigger than the one we went to. Here the also have bat caves (which I didn't see due to lack of time).

Then we went to "la laguna de Apoyo" which is a lagoon that formed in the crater of a volcano. it is surrounded by mountains and jungle. The water looks black but it is actually crystal clear, the color is from the volcanic rocks. They have not been able to find its depth.

I hope those who have never considered going change their minds about Nicaragua. It's truly a wonderful place.
